This Stevens Junior chambered in .22lr/s has seen quite a life, and was very enjoyable to ‘revive’. A newly refinished stock, polished and immersion blued internals, newly etched engravings, and a high polished and blued barrel, along with other bits of work. Eventually a new factory firing pin will be installed, and this will be a complete rifle!
This project was for a friend, and I wanted every inch of this rifle close to how it looked from factory. (With maybe a little nicer of a stock!)

So excited to share that the students got to experience another Program Advisory Committee meeting filled with conversations, questions and answers, and a chance to mingle with industry legends like those from Krieger barrels, Childers Guns, Allegheny Arms, Veronesi Gunworks, Krieghoff, American Custom Gunsmakers Guild, Dressels, Brownells and more! The visit was well received by all, and the students and staff gained a lot of value!

It's with deep sadness we morn the passing of a legend in the firearms industry. Pictured left, #FrankBrownell passed away earlier this week. Frank was a huge supporter of the #Gunsmithing trade and gave not only moral support to Pennsylvania Gunsmith School but of his financial and human resources to #PGS. As a result, hundreds and hundreds of aspiring #Gunsmiths benefited from his generosity. You shaped an industry and left a legacy of which we will continue to follow in your footsteps. From a blank! When asked why we have so many hours in stockmaking, why we start from a blank, and why is the focus on wood stocks? My answer is always that the fundamentals that are built from this process transfer to all stocks, from modifying inlets and barrel channels on semi inlet or synthetic stocks, to making a pattern stocks or to be able to stock a rifle that no one else inlets for. As well as using this course as an introduction to the milling machines and for the pride the students take in making these from scratch!
